DSO138mini brings in the following improvements:
Better structure and smaller size. The bulky pin-headers connecting the LCD and main board in old DSO138 has been eliminated. The soldering of these pin-headers has being found problematic for beginners.
USB or battery powered. This makes the scope much more convenient to be used as a portable device. New version analog board (PN: 109-13801-00H, aka "H version") can accommodate a battery charger JYE118 (see here) to make the device more practical.
External trigger input. This input can accept a TTL or LVTTL signal as trigger source.
Serial output of waveform data. This means captured data can be saved and displayed by PC. For example, this photo shows a captured single byte (0x35) sent from a serial port at 115200bps. This photo shows the same waveform displayed on PC using Gnuplot.
General controller. The main board can be used as a general purpose control board with LCD display. MCU ports were brought to board edges for easy connection to the target system.
There are a few optional parts that can be chosen to make the oscilloscope even more complete:
BNC connector. The kit comes with a two-pin header for the simple hook probes (see the manual). This connector replaces the two-pin header and will allow you to connect to standard professional BNC probe.
Standard BNC probe.
Major features of DSO138mini:
Analog bandwidth: 0 - 200KHz.
Sampling rate: 1Msps max.
Sensitivity: 10mV/Div - 5V/Div.
Sensitivity error: < 5%.
Vertical resolution: 12-bit.
Timebase: 10us/Div - 500s/Div.
Record length: 1024 points.
External trigger.
Built-in 1KHz/3.3V test signal.
Waveform frozen (HOLD) function available.
Save/recall waveform.
Important Notes:
The power supply is not included in the kit. User needs to prepare a USB cable with micro-USB style plug to run the scope. Any USB port with higher than 150mA current capacity can be used as power source for the scope.
It is assumed that users have adequate soldering skills and troubleshooting skills to assemble the DSO138mini kits. It is not guaranteed that you will end up with a working device. But make as much efforts as we can to approach that goal.
